Adriane

I’ve been passionate about animals for as long as I can remember. In addition to the family dog, we had a feisty duck, several chameleons and assorted parakeets. But nothing compared to the summer I turned nine, when Grandfather rented a pony.  I rode Bolt everywhere.  Although he loved to roll over on unsuspecting riders, his quirks soon became a treasured part of family lore.

In the mid-90s, I moved to Cambridge. When my condo adopted a no-dog policy, I thought about volunteer work. From personal experience, I knew the Animal Rescue League had an excellent program with many opportunities. From the moment I met the staff, I knew I’d fit in.

Over the next three years I walked hundreds of animals slated for adoption. So I can honestly say that I have had experience with most breeds and hard-to-handle pups. The hands-on training I received helped me better understand canine body language and behavior modification. And by staffing the ARL help line, I learned how to resolve many behavioral problems.

In 2002, I started Cambridge Canines. Since then, I’ve written articles about feline health/body language for Catnip, the Tufts Veterinary School of Medicine newsletter, and WebMD. Please check them out.
